Fueling Arizona For Three Generations
Founding and Early Growth (1938–1964)
Bennett Oil was founded in 1938, by Don Bulechek, a young Prescott, Arizona businessman. Don bought an Atlantic Ritchfield service station in downtown Prescott, Arizona. “Chek’s Service” later expanded into three Shell stations. In 1944, he became a distributor for Tidewater Petroleum company and rebranded his stations to their “Flying A” retail brand. In 1962, Don’s son-in-law, Roy Bennett, came to work for him. Soon thereafter, Tidewater was acquired by Phillips 66. In 1964, Don sold the business to Roy and his wife Donna, and the company became known as Bennett’s Oil Co.
Expansion and Incorporation (1973–1980s)
In 1973, Bennett Oil bought a Shell Oil distributorship in the Verde Valley, 60 miles east of Prescott. They operated under two brands until 1976 when Exxon contracted to brand and supply both operations. The company grew rapidly during the ‘80’s under the Exxon brand. During this time, the company was incorporated, and their children began joining in the ownership and operation of the company. Bennett Oil has continued to grow their business into Cardlocks, Convenience Stores, Lubricants, Racing Fuel, DEF, Bobtail fuel delivery and Transports.
Today’s Operations and Capabilities
Today Bennett Oil operates lubricant warehouses in Dewey & Phoenix. Bennett Oil is the Master Distributor of VP Racing Fuels in Arizona and proudly delivers DEF, CITGO and VP Branded Lubricants to customers throughout the state of Arizona. We also specialize in Inventory Management and equipment placement.
American Transport Division
The American Transport Freight Division has terminals in Phoenix, Tucson, Prescott Valley & Las Vegas NV. American Transport have been transporting fuel for the last 27 years for the Arizona and Nevada locations of Sam’s Club. We also transport for other great companies such as Circle K, Travel Centers of America, KAG, and COSTCO. We have capable professional drivers—many of whom have been with us for over 30 years.

Leadership and Legacy
Lenora Bennett Bateman is the President & CEO Bennett Oil/American Transport and has been at the helm of the company since 2003. Lenora, as the granddaughter of Don Bulecheck, daughter of Roy and Donna Bennett is the 3rd generation of the Bennett Family to run Bennett Oil in the day-to-day operation. As a long-standing EEO employer and holder of many municipal supply contracts, the name Bennett is synonymous with Safety, Ethical operations, and outstanding professionalism.
